I'm terrified of Teardown's unrelenting robots
Teardown is a groovy good meter, a shockingly smart holdup game framed by some correct noble voxel death tech. But for all the hours I've put into planning capers and tearing down its brickly maps, I've never once mentation the experience could be improved via relentless pursuit from a hardworking, fearless, unbeatable Eradicator.
Sadly, developer Dennis Gustafsson does. And from the looks of recent tweets, it seems I'll ne'er be able to play Teardown again.
I know a slew of you liked the propellent pathfinding I tinkered with a couple of years ago. Well, I'm support working on it for part 2. Steel oneself against robots! No-account about the programmer nontextual matter... exposure.chitter.com/MQWFakLiGqJune 21, 2021
Teardown has had pursuers earlier, mind. The game's heist missions a great deal pit you against a heavily clawed attack whirlybird, chasing down your every actuate with spotlights, miniguns and rockets. Just these predatory birds can be evaded and brainsick, thrown off of course.
What's terrifying about this robot is the way it simply will not stop. You can destroy floors, barricade walls and give way catwalks, and it'll still keep coming—its spot CRT head casting a sickening light across the map.
Thank immortal it's not armed. Yet.

Granted, this robot is only slenderly less ugly than the giant star spiders Gustafsson used in young development videos. Initially mature for a prototype, players figured out how to access code them in the live game last year, turning Teardown into an arachnophobe's pip nightmare before the developer readily removed them.
Gustaffson hasn't properly proclaimed when or how these 'bots will arrive in Teardown. But they will atomic number 4 fully unclothed to lua scripting, ideally letting you reprogram for any purpose you see able. With Teardown already fostering a healthy mod scene, I'm restfully excited (and very scared) by the possibilities afforded past these mechanical pursuers.
